St Paul to Meursault

Have I mentioned that we're on our way home? Yes, there is an end to this very long holiday. Avignon was as far south as we traveled and visiting Simon was part of the return journey. Our next stop was the village of Meursault.

Before we leave Simon, I must tell you about a film that he showed us. It is called Belleville Rendez-vous or (in American) The Triplets of Belleville. Technically it is a cartoon but Bill and I loved it. It was very apropos, being in part about cycling in the Tour de France, which had just passed through Simon's village when we were there.

I think it's really about the love of a grandma for her grandson and about the resilience of three old ladies. It is French, but anyone can understand it. The drawings of the city of Belleville are spectacular, I enjoyed the music and it is set in the inter-war period, so how could I not love it?

You can watch the French trailer here. The American trailer is here.

What fun!

(Hoping it's been a splendid trip. That's not a part of France I know very well.)

Did you make it to the Montmartre coupon stores?

Susan - My fault for writing in the present tense! Montmartre is in our future; this post (and all the others on previous Mondays about France) are from our trip in July. V. boring of me, I know.

D.A. - It was truly splendid. So much so, I forgot to count the days til I was home.

Shelley: last year I decided I was finally bored of France but now I'm thinking, hmm, it's so easy to reach and so beautiful, so we may well be back this summer.
Oh and Scots bullies sound worse because of our harsh barking accent.

Tabitha - I got bored with Barcelona, something I never thought possible. I didn't set out to love France (and I think my heart still really belongs to Italy) but as you say, it is easy to reach and I do love having summer now and then. I shall not give any more thought to the bully - I usually just pretend he never existed.

France - would love to go back again. Hubs and I have both been to France, but not together and he hasn't been to Nice, I have. So we would like to go there and to Paris, of course!

Thar film suggestion is so timely with all of Lance Armstrong's interview on the news here.

Beryl - Lance Who? I'm so disappointed I just want to forget him and pretend he never existed.
