Photos from the Road

Well, I've done my usual sneaky trick of going off on holiday without telling you til we get back.  This time we spent the month of July in France, in the motorhome.  Don't worry, I'm not planning to re-live the whole trip with you (unless you'd rather I did...).

This might be the Saone, or it might be the Rhone.  I didn't take notes.

Loads of 'issues' cropped up in May and June and we were both really overloaded with burdensome responsibilities so I think this was a much needed break.  It's the first very long holiday where I've not started counting the days til I could be home after the first 10-14 days.   In fact, I asked Bill if he might consider moving to France.

Yep, that's the roof of the motorhome at the top...(70 km per hour, not miles!)

We decided against it for the moment, largely because Bill wondered where would we go on holiday then?

Does not do you any good to wait until you return home to tell folks you were gone. Bill has been posting on Facebook about your trip. ;->

I'm not at all surprised. Should we ever have the misfortune to be burgled when we're away, I'll let Bill explain his Facebook entries to the insurance people...

Sounds like a great vacation. Do you ferry your motorhome across? Where do you leave from?

Beryl - Yes, we take the motorhome across on the ferry, which leaves from North Shields. It's about a 10 minute drive from our house to the ferry landing. It's eerie to see all the huge trucks, the many motorhomes and caravans, cars, bikes and people loading into the cargo hold. There are layers and layers of moveable floors. I can't begin to understand why the ships don't sink; it's much like getting on an enormous jet and flying - it takes a certain amount of faith.

Yes Please Would like a full account of your trip complete with many photographs. I thought the Tour de France coverage had far less scenic content this year.I don't mind the cameras cutting to the cyclists now and again but I watch it for the wonderful scenery, churches & chalets not people riding push bikes. .
